Whether responding to man-made or ecological disasters, mitigating hazardous materials or chemical spills, or developing solutions to restore habitat, environmental restoration officials require mission-ready skills and strategies to solve complex issues. Our University offers a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Hazard Mitigation and Restoration entirely online.
This program is designed specifically to empower individuals with a passion for responding to environmental emergencies and leading remediation projects. Through this program, students learn principles of ecological restoration in the post-disaster environment. They are taught how to assess and navigate the complex relationships between societies and their use of natural resources.
Students explore theoretical concepts that draw from emergency and disaster management disciplines, and they’re challenged to develop hazard mitigation and restoration strategies that can be implemented in the field. Courses are taught by expert practitioners, many with extensive experience leading real-world disaster management, emergency response, and environmental restoration missions.
