In the online Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies program, you will:

  • Study human interaction with emphasis on how people are affected by their environments, and how they, in turn, have an impact on others
  • Take courses such as Human Sexuality, Family Life, Family Resource Management, Marriage and the Family, Family Communications, and more
  • Learn techniques for research design, sampling, and data collection methods including observation, interviewing, and questionnaire construction
  • Examine the developmental, social, and cultural influences of the family in relation to a variety of personal and social experiences

This program can help you prepare to pursue the Child Development Associate (CDA®) certification sponsored by the Early Childhood Education Training Institution and the Council for Professional Recognition.

Important Note: This bachelor's degree program does not lead to licensure to become a K-12 schoolteacher. In addition, while this program offers the academic background you need for careers in early childhood, individual states often require additional hands-on training or site visitation not provided by our university. It is your responsibility to become familiar with all licensure/certification requirements in the state in which you plan to seek employment.

Tuition Cost Per Credit Hour Undergraduate $350 per credit hour $250/credit hour with Preferred Military Rate Master’s Degree & Graduate Certificate $455 per credit hour $290/credit hour with Preferred Military Rate

All U.S. active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and military families, (parents, spouses, legal partners, siblings, and dependents) are eligible for the Preferred Military Rate of $250/credit hour for undergraduate and $290/credit hour for master’s-level courses. The Preferred Military Rate, which is applied automatically, supersedes all other university grants and special rates, and cannot be combined with any other special promotions.

  • Earn credits for your experience. Don’t leave your hard-earned credits behind. We offer no-cost transfer credit evaluation so you can possibly fast-track your education by earning credit for prior life experiences, college courses, or military service.
  • Books online at no cost. Ebooks provided at no cost to all undergraduate, doctoral, and master's-level students eligible for the military tuition grant.
  • Serving the military. Active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and their families are eligible to receive the military tuition grant. Additionally, they’re eligible for our university book grant, which provides no-cost ebooks for undergraduate and master’s-level courses.
  • Help when you need it. Our excellent support staff can walk you through ways to fund your education, including federal student aid, military TA, veterans’ benefits, scholarships, private loans, and employer contributions.
